Electric Prices and changing suppliers

Post by Ian »

Many are probably aware that prices of electric has jumped significantly over the last few years. An example of this was with 604kwh used in winter of 2010, this cost 96.51 Euros & 609 Kwh used in winter of 2013 costing 164.62 Euros.

The additional cost is due to the government insisting the utility companies make a back dated charge for when electric was cheaper, the VAT increase from 18% to 21% and of course in true Spanish customer service, companies ripping off their clients.

For instance we have noticed our cost per Kwh is .03c more than any of the dozens of clients bills will open, despite me having signed a contract with Endesa for cheaper electric.

The market is now open for other operators to offer their (not very competitive) prices. If you have a look on the back of your electric bill, their is a list of other companies. The ones you can use is dependant on your actual Kw power you have set up.

One of the companies also has a service in English is Iberdrola:

Please post your feedback if you mange to change suppliers and get a better price...!
