Visiting Sanlucar after Christmas for one day and want to arrange a birthday lunch but can't decide from what we've read whether to go to Casa Bigote or Balbino? One "problem" is that although we are seafood fanatics one of our party cannot (will not!) eat anything fishy!!! Do they both offer meat alternatives, however limited, and if so which would you recommend? Many thanks,
Paul
Birthday lunch
Re: Birthday lunch
Hi Paul
Both have advantages and dis-advantages, which depends on the weather on the day:
Casa Bigote:
Is inside only no outside seating, you need a table upstairs and close to the window to get good views, book in advance. There menu is very fish based with as you say limited meat dishes available. It is full waiter service. Closed on Sundays and any religious date.
Casa Balbinos:
Outside seating and limited inside seating or standing area, you have to order and collect the food yourself, a member of staff will let you know your food is ready, but you have to collect it. Yet again mainly based on fish, but does have a wider variety of non fish dishes, for e.g. Aubergine stuffed with mince in a manzanilla sauce (my favourite), pork fillet in manzanilla sauce, chicken fillet with chips, chicken/pork skewers, meatballs in tomato sauce, fried chicken nuggets, jamon, cheese, tortilla de patata (during the day) and other dishes.
If we taking any guests with similar food dislikes, we always go to Balbinos, as the variety is wider.
Enjoy
