Winter weather in Spain

Post by jim »

For those considering moving here, you should remember winters are quite chilly, so don't get rid of those jumpers! The houses are built to keep the sumer heat out and in winter it can be like living in a fridge - it is warmer outside.

The locals like to use under table heaters which you put your feet and legs under and are covered in heavy table cloths/blankets. Alternatively air conditioning units often come with a heating option but these can be heavy on electricity use. Gas heaters using the cylinder gas are also an option, but the price of these has risen steeply recently by over 10% since last autumn.

Of course you could go for the underfloor heating option if you are specifiying your own house!

A bit late but the temp's should be in the mid to high 20's - take a look at the weather page on this website for an update of the local weather.

Easter has been quite wet and cold this year, it will help to fill the lakes and water stocks, but not good for getting out and about.

Everyone in the UK have been talking so much about how much warmer it has been than Spain over last few weeks.

Has the weather really been that bad this year so far?
