Since the demise of the satellite system which has affected the Costa del Sol, Costa de la Luz and Portugal the most, most ex-pats now use IP masking techniques (VPN's), making the remote server think your IP internet address is located in the UK, thus allowing you to watch things like BBC iPlayer etc.

Other methods are watching UK channels on FilmOn or even installing a smaller dish that can pick up a back up British TV satellite, but this is only good for a small number of UK channels and is encrypted, so every now and then, they change the code, so you may have to wait, hours, days or weeks for the code to be cracked.
