El Puerto de Santa Maria & Rota ferry to Cadiz

One of the three catamarans which transport passengers between Cádiz and El Puerto, and Cádiz and Rota, has broken down and the Bay of Cádiz Transport Consortium has decided to rent a boat which usually travels between the Balearic Islands and the Canaries to replace it.

The boat, which is larger than the catamarans, will carry up to 250 people at a time and will remain in service until improvements are carried out to all three catamarans. The boat service is expected to begin this week, and will probably continue until the end of the year. However, it will not be until next summer that a fourth catamaran will join the existing fleet.
